Project Background
The goal of this project was to design three book potential book cover variations for the same classic novel: Frankenstein by Mary Shelley.
Design Choices
Both the Illustrative cover and the collage cover reference Michelangelo's The Creation of Adam painting in the Sistine Chapel. This was done to convey one of the novel's themes (man playing as God) to the reader/viewer. The collage book cover also includes references to a statue of Satan, a person the monster in the novel feels a kinship with. Finally, the typographic book cover combines different types collaged together to reference how the monster was created from many disjointed parts.
